To have a say in the decision making process, everyone has the right to comment on most types of planning application. You do not need to have received a notification letter or email from us to do so.
You can support, object, or make general comments about an application, however, only planning issues can be taken into account. For details of what can be considered a planning issues, visit the Planning Portal website.
Comments that contain anything we deem offensive, discriminatory or libellous will not be published and will not be considered during the decision process.
All acceptable comments will be available to view on our website, so do not include any information that you do not wish to be made public.
We will assess accepted comments and, in light of them, may suggest changes to the application with the applicant.

How can I make a comment?
Please submit your comments using our online Public Access system.
You can submit as many Public Access comments as necessary however we advise that you keep your comment factual and concise. Once checked by a member of the administration team, your comment will be made viewable to the public under the ‘Comments’ tab on the specific Planning Application. Comments that contain anything we deem offensive, discriminatory or libelous will not be published and will not be considered during the decision process. All acceptable comments will be available to view on our website, so do not include any information that you do not wish to be made public.
If you are unsure of the application’s reference number, you can find the application by searching by area or by the address.
You will need to provide your name, address and email address when submitting a comment. Without an email address, we are unable to keep you updated on the progress of the application, any amendments or the final decision.
